Marshall Point Lighthouse Proposal

Eric and Emily's Port Clyde Proposal

The Marshall Point Lighthouse is an amazing place for a surprise proposal in Maine. The lighthouse grounds in Port Clyde offer so many views of the ocean, rocks, beach and the famous tower with the iconic walkway. The location also changes in a spectacular way depending on the time of day, the season, and the tide. We would be happy to photograph here every day! And the best part is meeting wonderful couples like Emily and Eric.

Emily and Eric are frequent visitors to Port Clyde and the Marshall Point Lighthouse seemed like an ideal spot for a wedding proposal to take place during their Christmas trip to Maine. Eric collaborated closely with BrightWorks and planned the surprise under the guise of a family photo shoot. When the couple arrived at the lighthouse a little bit ahead of the rest of the family, we introduced ourselves and encouraged them to pose for a few “test” shots out on the rocky point. Despite the cold and wind, Emily was intrepid and willing to go for it. Chalk it up to her experience as a television news reporter!

Our absolute favorite part of this lighthouse proposal was the moment that Emily went out onto the granite rocks facing south toward the outer islands, Eric sank down to one knee, and Emily reacted so profoundly to his gesture. Emily’s family arrived and started to congratulate the couple and add to the good cheer. They reacted with heartwarming expressions and enthusiastic hugs! All so fun to capture!

A few days later, we also photographed the couple at Emily’s grandfather’s home in Port Clyde. It was an honor to record the presence of multiple generations and their love for the Maine coast. We’re so grateful to be part of unforgettable moments like these and be able to share them in some way with the family and friends viewing the images years from now.

Congratulations, Emily & Eric!
