Inn at Peaks Island Wedding

An island evening ceremony in Portland, Maine

We love heading out to the islands of Casco Bay to photograph weddings — count BrightWorks Photography in for a ferry ride, salt air, and island ceremonies at any time of year, whatever the weather! This couple selected the Inn at Peaks Island for their event. The guests congregated at the Casco Bay Lines Ferry Terminal and set off to nearby Peaks Island, less than a twenty-minute ride away. The ferry operates frequently and makes for a terrific introduction to the Portland area.

The Inn at Peaks Island is ideally situated so that guests can walk from the ferry to the ceremony location. No cars needed! The couple chose to be married on the southern edge of the inn's grounds, framed by a white gazebo. The gazebo is nestled in a garden with a stone retaining wall and plenty of room for the tent. Plus, many of the logistics of the wedding day can be coordinated by the experienced staff at the Inn at Peaks Island! What a great spot to return to on future anniversaries! There are also trails and beaches to explore. Yankee Magazine describes Peaks Island as the "perfect New England summer escape."

After their Maine-style lobster dinner and truly expert dancing, the couple snuck down to the town dock for sunset photos looking west across Casco Bay toward Portland. And good to note, the ferry schedule is unlikely to interrupt wedding festivities, as the last ferry leaves Peaks Island at a night owl’s preferred time of 11:55 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
