FAQ'S

What's your approach to photographing weddings?

We connect with people. We like to balance expansive, romantic images with intimate journalistic moments. We're always looking for the emotions generated by the events of a wedding day. We also like to photograph the architecture, details, and patterns of whatever you've chosen to surround your wedding day.

Weddings often progress quickly though, and we're aware of staying one step ahead in order to capture important moments as they evolve. Good planning is also helpful here.

When it comes to shooting formal portraits, we think it's important to give more direction. We will cheerfully orchestrate the group posing that translates into the photographs that you want. The goal is always to make this as fast, easy, and fun as possible so that everyone can soon return to the celebration.

We like to have time to wander off a bit with the wedding couple and photograph just the two of you. These photographs are often some of the most beautiful and treasured of all.

Do you recommend using a second photographer?

Yes! There are so many advantages to having a second photographer present for your wedding that we include it in our basic package! Besides increasing the number of photographs which you will receive, you'll gain two different perspectives of the same event at the same moment. Wedding events that particularly benefit from this approach are the preparation, the first look, the vows and exchange of rings. A second photographer also provides coverage of the cocktail hour while family and wedding party portraits are taken by the other photographer. It's essential to have a second photographer for larger weddings or for any wedding where the couple is preparing in separate locations. Unlike photographers who subcontract their second photographer, BrightWorks is an experienced team that works seamlessly with you from the start!

Are you insured?

Yes!
BrightWorks carries business liability and medical insurance.

Can we meet before we decide to book BrightWorks for our wedding?

Sure! Video chat is a great option. Or, let's go out for coffee if you're up this way in the Midcoast Maine area. It's so important to figure out a good match for your wedding photography services.

When will we get our photos?

You will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within 4 weeks. The gallery will be posted for one year. You can easily download all the photos from the gallery. You can also share them, choose your favorites, and order prints! Pretty cool.

Will we be able to share the images with family and friends?

Yes. We allow free download of high and low resolution images to all those with whom you wish to share your gallery.

Do you offer print release and what is it?

Yes, print release is included. BrightWorks retains the copyright on all the images but you may print and use your images online for personal, non-commercial use.

How do we reserve you as our wedding photographer?

Well that's an easy one! After all your initial questions have been answered and you've decided to move ahead with BrightWorks, we will hold your date and time for one week. You will have this time to review our emailed contract. We will also ask for a 25% deposit with the signed contract. Once received, your date will be reserved.

What if I am having a small family wedding? Do you have an option for me?

Yes :))
We'd be happy to discuss your particular situation.

What do we need to think about before we meet with you for our engagement session?

Not to worry! Even couples who may be a little nervous at first, end up finding our sessions easy and fun. Your engagement session is actually an important part of your wedding photography experience because it allows us to really get to know one another and for you to become familiar with the way we work. This will help to create a ton of gorgeous, natural portraits of you both on your wedding day.

Where are you based and do you travel?

We're based in Spruce Head, Maine, a small fishing village south of Rockland. We photograph throughout Maine and travel to parts of New England. Reasonable travel fees will apply to locations beyond two hours travel by car from Spruce Head based on Google Map travel times.
