Charming Coastal Wedding in York Harbor
April and Joe’s Dockside Wedding
An early June wedding in York Harbor! Our first Maine wedding this season featured a lovely couple and their baby son. April and Joe met in York years ago and wanted to celebrate where it all began! Early forecasts called for rain, but the day brought mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures to the southern Maine coast. We were delighted to photograph April and Joe’s wedding and started with wedding preparation shots and an invitation suite featuring Maine mussel shells to highlight the couple’s blue color theme!
April prepared at a beach house not far from York Harbor and we photographed her and her bridesmaids out on the shaded porch. It was obvious that she really knew and loved her crew – both April and Joe incorporated each other’s family members into their wedding party. A lively, family-focused energy resulted and we walked into a space where we could hear children laughing, bridesmaids singing, and music playing. Such a great way to kick off the wedding day!
The couple decided not to do a first look, so once April arrived at the ceremony location at the Dockside, a charming property right on York Harbor, we focused on the bride’s party shots and a Father/Daughter reveal. April’s dad was visibly moved to see her! Meanwhile, Joe’s mom had been hard at work on the flowers. She did all the arrangements, including a gorgeous flower installation on a golden ring that served as the couple’s arbor. April rested before the wedding with her baby son on her lap – already so profoundly connected to this new family and chapter in her life.
After the wedding, we took some of our favorite shots – the couple chose to have newlywed photographs on the dock stretching into York Harbor. The sea breeze lifted April’s veil so beautifully! Guests milled about on the lawn with a view of the boats. Eventually, the wedding party made their entrance into the restaurant space. Dinner, dancing, and cake cutting followed! The sky turned a shade of pale pink and April and Joe slipped out for sunset portraits on the lawn.
