Morgan and Andrew's Ocean Gateway Wedding

Morgan and Andrew’s elegant wedding took place at the Ocean Gateway in Portland, Maine on a foggy day full of the sights and sounds of the bustling harbor.

Photography began with the bride’s details in her suite at the AC Hotel. We captured the final “getting ready” moments and bridal/groom suites at either end of the hallway made coordination easy. Rebecca accompanied Andrew out to the harborside first look location, and Morgan was able to peek down at him from her hotel window as he waited on the pier.

The Ocean Gateway is a modern wedding venue that doubles as a cruise ship terminal. It stands gracefully over the water near the entrance to Portland Harbor and there’s always something to see! After a cute first look moment with tugboats in the background, the bride and groom strode to the end of the pier. Dockhands even congratulated the couple while coiling the lines of a departing ship! 

Following the first look, the wedding party joined the couple on the upper deck of the Ocean Gateway for group portraits. Steve adjusted his off-camera flash to complement the ambient light as fog rolled in and out. We posed family portraits on the lush green grass beside the visitor’s center. The BrightWorks team has a system for rotating through these formal shots effortlessly!  

After the ketubah signing, Morgan and Andrew’s ceremony unfolded on the lawn beside the Ocean Gateway. A driftwood wedding arbor adorned with beautiful roses framed the couple, their rabbi and the harbor. The wedding guests rose in unison and clapped as Morgan and Andrew recessed down the aisle as a newly married couple.

The couple made their triumphant entrance into the glass Ocean Gateway atrium and danced as a schooner glided by into the Maine fog. The guests toasted the couple and enjoyed fantastic live music from the Jim Ciampi band. Once the familiar sounds of the Horah began, guests joined in to raise Morgan and Andrew and their parents high in the air. Somewhere beyond the fog a full moon shone above.
