Zoe and Sean's Sugarloaf Mountain Resort Wedding
Zoe and Sean’s beautiful Sugarloaf wedding took place in Carrabassett Valley, a town in Maine known for the magnificent Sugarloaf ski mountain that rings in at 4,249 feet of elevation. These two Mainers love winter sports and chose to have a Maine mountain wedding ceremony in the height of summer! We couldn’t have been more thrilled to join them amid the beauty of western Maine!
We arrived early to the Sugarloaf Golf Club and the Sugarloaf Outdoor Center to check out the natural light and find an ideal spot for couple portraits and wedding party photographs. The Sugarloaf Outdoor Center borders a pond, and a beaver swam past inquisitively as we set up our gear. Arriving right on schedule, the couple, their families and friends took turns standing on a granite outcrop with the Sugarloaf ski mountain visible in the background. It made for great photographs, and the pond was also incredibly peaceful and provided a nice place to reflect prior to the wedding ceremony.
The Sugarloaf wedding ceremony took place on the golf course where Zoe and Sean read humorous and heartfelt vows. The guests cheered as the couple came back down the aisle, and additional group photos were done efficiently so that everyone could get warm and enjoy dinner back at the base lodge. Zoe’s mom made a profoundly moving toast, and each subsequent toast expressed a unique angle on the way that these two complement one another.
The Sugarloaf wedding team helped the night’s events go smoothly, even posting someone to keep an eye on a very beautiful but heavy cake topper depicting a prince and princess in a swirling embrace. The reception hall also boasted a skeeball “machine” handmade by the groom. This Sugarloaf wedding culminated in spectacular fireworks that illuminated the faces of Zoe and Sean’s admiring friends and family as they stood on the Sugarloaf beach. And to top it all off, The Middle Men played multiple sets of high energy dance tunes. When you have a chance, listen to this phenomenal local band from Portland, Maine!
