Kristen and Will’s Wedding at

Grace on the Lake

August Celebration in Harmony, Maine

What a beautiful summer day photographing Kristen and Will at a new Maine wedding venue called Grace on the Lake! Kristen and Will met in the Boston area but they’ve spent significant time on Great Moose Lake near Kristen's hometown of Waterville. It’s a picturesque, open lake with a gently curving lakeshore and a few small islands. The couple was excited to find Grace on the Lake, a recently constructed lakeside wedding venue ideal for their August wedding!

The dynamic combination of Kristen and Will – both excellent planners - and Grace on the Lake’s variety of tailored spaces made photography a breeze. The bride’s party included her brother and the groom’s party included his close friend Elizabeth. Since the getting ready spaces were nearby, people could easily "mix and match" spending time with each other. And both areas had plenty of pretty light! A few of our favorite images from the day show Kristen's stunning gown with her train delicately fanned out behind her.

Jeff, one of the friendly proprietors of Grace on the Lake, used a golf cart to whisk Kristen to the line of trees where Will stood for the first look. The couple’s first look included a walk down a rustic wooden dock and Kristen’s veil lifted so beautifully in the wind. They smiled and laughed their way back up to a grove where the group photos took place, and then it was time for the couple to rest prior to the ceremony.

Over one hundred wedding guests arrived at Grace on the Lake and walked down the sloping field to the ceremony site. The couple devised a lovely curtain to act as an entry point to their ceremony. Their wedding planner, Allison Gjeltema, kept the processional in perfect rhythm! And with two photographers, we captured photos from many angles. The ceremony included earnest, unique vows and ended as the newlyweds strolled off to spend a few minutes alone by the lake.

Kristen and Will’s reception at Grace on the Lake took place in two locations – cocktails at the Anchor Bar and later cocktails up at the barn. Their friends and family made very special toasts, including one that involved two red glasses found at a shipwreck. Dinner and dancing followed, all framed by barn beams and soft draperies. And all with an infusion of music played by a live band! Plus, glow-sticks!

Congratulations, Kristen and Will! Thank you for inviting us to be part of your day!
